On January 20th more than 400 athletes and coaches from across Ontario will gather in Thunder Bay, Ontario to compete in the 2011 Special Olympics Provincial Winter Games.

The 2011 Games is their chance to compete on a provincial stage, and potentially represent Ontario at the 2012 Special Olympics National Winter Games in St. Albert, Alberta. Participants will compete in the sports of Speed Skating, Curling, Snowshoeing, Alpine Skiing, Figure Skating and Nordic Skiing.

We are no longer accepting applications to volunteer for the Games this January.
Thank you Thunder Bay! We had an overwhelming response to our call for volunteers with more than 500 applications received.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Law Enforcement Torch Run in Support of Special Olympics
Thursday - 7:30 pm to 8:15 pm

Approximately 150 police officers from across Ontario will be participating.
The Torch Run begins at the Days Inn on Sibley Drive at 7:30 pm and proceeds east on to Hewitson St. to Dunlop St. and then north on Memorial Ave. to High St. and then go west to Beverly St.
The torch will arrive at the Opening Ceremonies at the Community Auditorium around 8:15 pm.

Note: Opening & Closing Ceremonies are closed to the public
