UNIFIED EVENT

A Unified Event is when athletes with an intellectual disability are paired with partners from local schools to come together in sport. Unified Sports athletes and partners improve their physical fitness, sharpen their skills, challenge the competition and help to overcome prejudices about intellectual disability.
The Unified Event for the 2011 Special Olympics Ontario Winter Games will take place on January 21-22, 2010 with locations and times to be announced. 50 special needs students will be identified by local schools as well as schools in Northwestern Ontario and paired up with 50 high school student volunteers that are selected by the local schools. They will be participating in the following sporting events; snow soccer, basketball and snowshoeing. Also athletes will get the chance to attend our Healthy Athletes Program. Unified Sports Event Luncheon All parents are welcome to the Unified Sports Event Luncheon! The lunch takes place Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Fort William Historical Park Visitor's Centre. Lunch will begin at 12:00 pm and finish at 1:30 pm. For all parents attending, the luncheon will cost $10.00 per person. After you fill out the form, you will be prompted to purchase your ticket securely online. This luncheon is open to only parents that have an athlete(s) participating in the Unified Sports Day.
